Heather Byrne has worked throughout her career as an Art Director and Designer in both magazine and newspaper publishing.  She worked for several years as an Art Director in London for leading publishing houses, including Conde Nast (Art director of Brides Magazine) and National Magazines (Art Editor of Good Housekeeping Magazine), and as a freelance designer for titles including Harpers and Queen, Tatler and Good Housekeeping. She moved to Dublin in the late nineties to become Design Editor of The Sunday Business Post Newspaper where she worked for nine years and lead a successful redesign of both the newspaper sections and magazines produced for the title. More recently, Heather worked for sixteen years for The Belfast Telegraph Newspaper as Features Design Editor, working on both news and lifestyle sections, including the initial design of the papers Weekend Magazine.  She has won several design awards for the Belfast Telegraph including Design Production Journalist of The Year NI Media Awards in 2015 and 2016. Heather left the Belfast Telegraph in December 2021 to concentrate on her other creative role as a landscape painter and has shown her work in London and sells to galleries locally and in Belfast.
