Aasma Day is a journalist at The i Paper based in Lancashire in the North of England and is part of the i Long Reads team. A multi-award winning journalist, her work brings in a perspective and views from outside the London bubble to the national news agenda. Aasma specialises in investigations and original stories with a human interest focus and wants to ensure people from all diversities of life have the chance to make their voices heard. She has a particular interest in real life and health related stories and telling the tales of those battling poverty and trapped on the margins of society, as well as those with stories of inspiration and hope. Aasma worked for the regional press for 20 years. She was Lifestyle Editor and Investigative Reporter at the Lancashire Post and led the group-wide Johnston Press Investigations Unit. She worked for around three years as North of England correspondent at HuffPost UK, before joining i in June 2021.
