Jack Hill

The Times

Jack Hill is a highly experienced war photographer and has been taking pictures for The Times since 2001, often going to places where there were not many willing volunteers, such as conflicts across the Middle East, Asia and Africa, and most recently Ukraine.

Jack's powerful images from Ukraine's ongoing Russian invasion reveal the enduring human spirit amid the horrors of war. From Valentina Zavadsky's poignant visit to her grandson's grave to the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers training with new American weapons, Hill's lens captures the essence of bravery and sacrifice on the frontlines and behind the scenes.

During several assignments to Ukraine during the ongoing Russian invasion Jack was able to demonstrate the horrors of war that were inflicted on civilians and soldiers alike. Jack was there on the anniversary of the full scale invasion and have spent over four months there during the 2022-2023 period.
