Published in February this year, her first story for The Guardian was an investigative report uncovering the extent of sexual abuse faced by incarcerated women in India. She spent the next several months investigating the "mysterious" death of a Rohingya refugee child detained by the Indian government. Her findings were eventually published in The Telegraph in an investigative story which revealed not only the truth behind the girl's death, but also the mass arbitrary detention and human rights abuses in custody faced by Rohingya refugees in India.
The Telegraph story garnered a widespread international response from refugee rights activists, legal experts and other readers. Her story will be presented before the Supreme Court, the apex court of India, this year by a petitioner arguing against the illegal detention of Rohingya refugees in the country.
