2023 has seen another strong year for Sky News and all its digital products - with events such as the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla; the continued war in Ukraine; wildfires across much of Europe and Hawaii; the devastating earthquake in Turkey; the loss and search for the missing Titan submersible and the attempted coup by Wagner mercenaries in Russia followed by the subsequent death of Yevgeny Prigozhin some of the biggest stories we have covered. Our blend of breaking news, live blogs, explainers, expert analysis and data and forensic insight has seen Sky News become the second most used publisher news app in the UK. The balance of news content is very important to Sky News as we look to continually build our trusted brand and generate new audience demographics – with our website now seeing an almost even split between female and male users (49 to 51% respectively) and a continued focus on attracting younger users to our products. We have continued to grow on our social media platforms, which work alongside the Sky News website to produce more concise and engaging content. That progress has seen Sky News become the third largest news publisher TikTok account in the with more than 5 million followers. And it has resulted in more than one billion views in 2023 on our YouTube channel stemming from content viewed from China as protests grew to stringent COVID lockdown measures, through to audience engagement in our coverage of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, as well as seeing subscriber numbers on YouTube pass through the seven million mark. The Sky News website continues to produce trusted content in an extremely competitive news environment, we are proud of our reputation as an accurate breaking news site that is first to give our audience the news and to produce content that both engages and rewards our users.
