The Sunday Times

The Sunday Times

House of Lords - If the yardstick for a front page is to kickstart debate then the pictures of 85 hereditary peers on the front of the Sunday Times certainly passes that test. The paper’s data team had dug deep into the backgrounds of those legislators who earn their place through birth. They discovered many intriguing facts, including the number who attended Eton, 46 per cent, their average age (71) and the very obvious fact that they were all white men. The elegant design only emphasised that point. The front page ruffled ermine and Lords reform was catapulted back on to the agenda.

Sunday Times 200 - How best to illustrate 200 years of Britain’s finest Sunday newspaper. Simple, really, you pay tribute to its readers. But hold on a minute, there are surely millions out there. So Morten Morland, our wonderful cartoonist, had a brilliant idea: to draw the 43 prime ministers who all want or wanted their weekly fix of political news, gossip and scandal. Liz Truss made the cut, days after we wrapped the paper in this magnificent image, she was gone. Queen Elizabeth - Three days after the Queen died, the appetite to read about Her Majesty’s life was insatiable. The Sunday Times offered a supplement along with pages of peerless insight and reportage. But for the front page we went back to the last coronation: a young Queen who, like us, could have had no idea then of the life she would end up leading.
