We've Got Your Back

The Sun

The Sun's Euros 2020 coverage was second to none, with columns full of insight and expert knowledge from footballing legend Jose Mourinho, detailed live blogs of games, and wall-to-wall coverage, support and celebration for the team.

Ahead of the tournament starting we ran an open letter to fans asking them to cheer not boo our players and fans when they decided to take the knee, declaring it was a time for support and celebration of our team. We were the only paper to showcase the talent of Raheem Sterling following England v Germany game with Sterling on the cover instead of Kane multiple times (and noticed by fans). Following England losing at the final and the subsequent racism directed at the black players, The Sun continued their support of the team echoing it's first front page asking for celebration of our players, The Sun ran with a front page and headline that said: "We’ve Got Your Back" with the England flag and the faces of the four young players who had received abuse after playing for their country. A huge show of support from the biggest news brand in the country, we had private messages of sent thanks sent to the editor.
