Prior to this, he was an Editor at the Daily Post, Liverpool from 1983 to 1987; an Assistant Night Editor for the Daily Mirror from 1987 until 1991; and former Assistant Night Editor, Sports Editor and Deputy Editor for the Daily Star from 1991 to 2011.
